Discover Yourself And Recover
Friday 19th June
Text: Psalm 139: 13-18
Key Verse: I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Psalm 139: 14
A scientific study was done on a genius, and it was discovered that he only utilised a little percent of his brain capacity. This means that a vast wealth of the potential in the human brain will most likely remain unutilised until he dies. No wonder, the Psalmist is so excited and filled with marvels and praises unto God for discovering the beauty and greatness of His creation. “I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
Discover yourself. Something precious is in you but hidden. You need to discover and recover it for your benefit and for the benefit of others. The ministry of John the Baptist was subjected to serious scrutiny because the Jews were not sure of whom he was. They asked him diversely, “Who are you? What are you saying about yourself? Are you Elijah? (John 1: 19-22).” If you do not identify yourself, the people around you will give you names out of their imaginations. Those who are ignorant of you may give you a name that may not be favourable to you. The chief captain who did not know Apostle Paul mistook him for an Egyptian who was a leader of four thousand murderers (Acts 21: 37, 38). Thank God John the Baptist disclosed his identity to the Jews. He said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah (John1:23).”
Who are you? What are you capable of doing without stress, without much supervision and yet with perfection? Is there not gospel preaching potential in you? Pastor Paul Rika, the International Director of Holiness Revival Movement Worldwide, discovered himself early in life. He saw in himself the potential to do exploits with preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He made a vow unto the Lord thus, “If You can make me know how to read and write, I will preach Your word.”
