Salvation Testimony Of Brother Joshua Okoji (Part 2)
Monday 8th June
Text: Luke 15: 17-24
Key verse: James 1:16 “Do not err, my beloved brethren.”
After the Bible study, my father led me in prayer of repentance and faith in Christ, after which peace and joy flooded my soul. After my salvation experience, I started doing my restitutions. As a sinner, I was heartless and whenever I went somewhere, I would first scan the environment quickly with my eyes to pinpoint things I would steal; either immediately or to come back later and carry it. There was a site we went to work and stole many things worth millions. My personal share was over four hundred thousand naira which I wasted in smoking, drinking and womanizing.
I went back to confess to the supervisor. The devil plagued me with fear of arrest and prosecution, but I summoned courage and narrated what I did to him. To my surprise, he said that since God has forgiven me, who is he not to forgive? He told me to go and sin no more. I was very happy. I did restitution to my parents for the lies I had been telling them and the shame I brought to them due to my prodigal life. The Lord empowered me to preach the gospel, including going out for morning cry. I met one of my friends and he invited me to come and smoke. I pointed at him and shouted, “Repent! This Jesus you heard that is coming soon, is coming now.”
I wasted my strength serving Satan. As my parents were labouring to save souls, I was busy teaching people smoking and ungodly dancing. Neighbours would ask, “Is it not your father that is a pastor?” and I would reply, “He has chosen to be a pastor, and I have chosen to be a smoker. Don’t advice me.” I had three girlfriends then. I called them one by one to inform them that I have repented and that there is no more relationship with me. I was even planning marriage with one of them, although I was actually deceiving her. When I cut off from her, she said, “What! Do you want me to kill myself? Let us continue but you can go on with your born again.” I refused. God has been patient with me and my parents kept on praying, especially my mother.
