TOPIC: HOLINESS OF LIFE BRINGS FAVOUR OF GOD April Tuesday 28th
Text: Luke 1:35-38
Key verse: Luke 1: 46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
Mary was declared as blessed among other women. The salutation by the angel of God does not distinguish Mary of being the best among women. She was just God’s perfect choice. Nonetheless, she possesses godly qualities that made her worthy of emulation. The Lord today wants women of such godly qualities to arise among His daughters. He wants holy daughters that should be able to portray godly qualities as Mary to this sinful world. Mary was born by sinful parents. She is a daughter of Adam and Eve. From a scriptural standpoint, it shows that Mary possesses godly qualities which made her find favour from God. She became a perfect choice of God to bring forth His Begotten Son, Jesus, because she was born again and holy woman who did not live a careless or free life. She kept herself clean and served God in holiness and righteousness. She was not exposed to immorality, not even with Joseph, the one espoused to her. She preserved herself from immoral men and did not keep bad company of friends that would have had negative influence on her life. She was not the type that would seduce the opposite sex because she was looking for husband or money. She resisted all forms of immoral enticements. This explains why God saw her as a clean and holy vessel fit for the Master’s use.
2Timothy 2:20, 21 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. She found favour with God because God saw her as a ready-made perfectly fit to bring the Saviour of Mankind into the sinful world. If you keep yourself clean and holy like Mary, you will find favour with God and He will put you to holy use. The Lord is holy and would always be attracted to holy vessels. God was attracted to Mary because of her purity and holy life. Similarly, the LORD’s favour often comes upon His righteous children that obey Him.
Thought for the day: Live holy and God will show you favour.
Song for the day: Something more than gold, something more than silver
Bible reading for the day:
2 Samuel 19-20; Luke 21:20-38
