TOPIC: TESTIMONY OF RESTITUTION OF FALSIFIED RECORDS by Sis Bosede Ogwurike
TEXT: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
KEY VERSE: Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
After accepting the Lord Jesus as my Lord and personal Saviour as a young girl I so much enjoyed the Lord, but at a particular time in my life I entangled myself with so many sins: fornication, abortions, misconduct in two of my undergraduate examination papers, falsification of age, falsification of results in my undergraduate research project and other sins that later required restitution. This created a big vacuum in my life. I no longer enjoyed the presence of God as before and sometimes when I prayed for restoration and revival, I would hear a voice clearly in my spirit saying, “Go and report yourself.” This I did not do for a long time because I was afraid of the consequences that may follow my reporting. This went on for several years but in 2012, I lost my peace completely. In my previous churches, we were taught not to steal, cheat or kill etc., but I never heard of restitution until I came to Holiness Revival Movement Worldwide (HOREMOW). When I heard about a similar restitution done by one of my senior colleagues, who is also a member of Holiness Revival Movement Worldwide, I went to her to ask how she did her own. With counselling, guidance from my state coordinator who also directed me to have a three days fasting and prayer, I wrote a letter of restitution, confessing my sins to the University where I was working as lecturer and pleaded for forgiveness. I found favour of my employer on the matter and I have since regained my peace.
After my restitution to the university, I also went back to my secondary school to rewrite some
WAEC subjects I had cheated in and visited my Polytechnic to do the age restitution. I am so happy and peaceful. Each time the Holy Spirit brings some past actions that I needed to make good and I did the restitution, I feel as light as the feather as if a big weight had been lifted off me. Praise the Lord! In February 2014, when I gave this testimony in our fellowship, four of our sisters were encouraged and met me on how to go about their restitution with the same institution. They have since done their restitution and had their peace. In fact, the restitution was so strange to the institution that some of the committee members praised the boldness and courage of those sisters. They asked to know which church they belonged to because they saw the light of the gospel in their lives. Hallelujah!
Thought for the day: Remove fear and do your restitution.
Song for the day: Trust and obey for there’s no other way…
Bible reading for the day:
2 Samuel 17-18; Luke 21:1-19
