TOPIC:  THE DRESSING AND COMPORTMENT OF HOLY WOMEN.  SATURDAY JULY 22
TEXT:  1 PETER 3:2-5
KEY VERSE:  Key verse: “In like manner also that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold or pearls or costly array.” (1Timothy 2:9).

Our scriptures today are addressing the appearance of holy women. The word “gold” in the memory verse means jewelry, which is a collective word for earrings, rings, nose rings, chains, necklace, bracelets (i.e. items of ornamentation or bodily decoration). Holy women of old time did not adorn themselves with items of beauty and worldliness which were prevalent among the backsliders and ungodly society of their day. They clothed themselves with meekness, quiet spirit, and holiness, which in the sight of God is of great price. They were modest in outward appearance.

The Bible reveals the worldliness in adornment that characterized the Old Testament time, which has continued till today. The ungodly daughters of Zion borrowed these worldly adornments from the heathen nations around them. God had warned Israel not to learn the ways of the heathen (Isaiah 3: 16-20). To adorn yourself with these things makes you unholy before God. Today, there are many children of God, even ministers of God, who use ear rings, nose jewel, chains, necklace, ring etc. These things hinder them from being truly holy in the sight of God. Humble yourself and remove them and do not risk your eternal soul by vain arguments. They were items of decoration and pride of sinful nations in the Bible time and in today's unbelieving world and the backslidden church.

It is unfortunate that some pastors permit or encourage their members to put on these ungodly adornments. Some know this truth but choose to ignore it. They shall go with their members to hell. There is no respect of persons with God.

Thought for the day:  Do not be conformed to the world.
Song for the day: Holy is the LORD.
Bible reading for the day: Psalm 36-37; Acts 23:1-11

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
