Seek Counsel For Your Marriage Decisions
Sunday 19th April
Text: Proverbs 2:1-7
Key Verse: Ruth 3:1,5 “Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? 5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.”
There are many people who live their lives without seeking counsel or advice. The Bible says that where there is no counsel, the people fall. How can you live your life without seeking guidance, without asking others if you are right, or if doing things a certain way will yield good results? It seems you do not concern yourself with these matters. Seek counsel and good advice for wise decision.
Some people believe that the woman they wish to marry must be a graduate or come from a specific tribe or have certain characteristics. They may think, “I cannot marry from this place because the women there are terrible.” Do not adopt such a mindset, instead, choose the path of faith, for many individuals who have married from your own village now face difficulties. Follow God and adhere to His guidance; live by faith, for the just shall live by faith, and the Lord will see you through in your marriage. You are destined for a successful and blessed union, in Jesus' name. Never fall to the tricks of the devil by telling lies because you want to marry.
Obey the counsel of genuine and righteous individuals, such as your holy pastor and prayerful parents. Do not disobey them, because in time, you will realise their wisdom. The advice given to you, of course, is to hinder sin in your life and bring righteousness into your life. “Oh, how I wish I had listened to my mother! I told lies; the truth was revealed to me, but I twisted it into a lie. See me now; I am married. Look at my life; I have spoiled it. The virginity of my life is gone. I have a child; I am now seen as second class. Who will want someone who is 'fairly used?” That will be your lamentation if you refuse godly counsel. Come to Jesus and you will never be 'fairly used.’
