King Solomon’s Intelligent Qualities
Saturday 11th April
Text: 1 King 1: 28-35
Key Verse: Psalms 90: 12. “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”
Solomon was made king over Israel after his father, King David, was about to die. King David gave instructions to Solomon to be strong and show himself as a man. He further instructed him to keep the charge of the Lord God, to walk in His ways, keep His statutes, commandments, judgments and His Testimonies, as it is written in the law. By so doing, the Lord will fulfil the promise He made to Solomon’s father, David. How many parents train their children this way?
King Solomon walked in the statutes of his father, David and loved God. This love made him sacrifice a thousand burnt costly sacrifice unto the Lord, at Gibeon. This sacrifice gladdened the heart of God and He appeared to Solomon in a dream by night and said, “Ask what I shall give thee.” King Solomon replied to God in 1 Kings 3:9, “Give therefore Thy servant an understanding heart to judge Thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this Thy so great a people?” This speech pleased the Lord and in Vs.12 &13, the Lord answered his wish and even added riches and honour which he did not ask. The Queen of Sheba testified of his wisdom. The wisdom in King Solomon helped him in judging the case between two women concerning a dead child, and his reign was without war. Have you ever given a costly sacrifice that moved God?
Trouble thrives because people do not apply wisdom in making or responding to utterances made. Husbands and wives are also victims of lack of wisdom which have ruined rooms and caused divorces, today. How about business decisions that were rushed into without wisdom? How do you run God’s Ministry, today? Proverbs 4:8. “Exalt her, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour; when though embrace her.” Go to God in prayer and ask for wisdom like King Solomon did.
Thought For The Day: Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore, get wisdom.
