FINDING A GOOD WIFE REQUIRES FAVOUR FROM THE LORD

TOPIC: FINDING A GOOD WIFE REQUIRES FAVOUR FROM THE LORD

TEXT: GENESIS 24: 1-9

MONDAY JULY 3RD

Key verse: Proverbs 18: 22 “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtaineth favour of the LORD.”
Question: Why did Abraham ask the servant to go to his relatives and find a wife for the son, knowing that his family was idol worshippers even as the Canaanites?
Answer: Abraham was in the land of Canaan and Canaan was cursed by Noah. They were a cursed people and their lives were terrible. Rebecca pleaded that Jacob should not marry among the Canaanites because Esau’s marriage to them affected both Isaac and Rebecca. The relatives of Abraham knew the living God in a way and acknowledged Him except that they also worshipped idols. So, they were not exactly like the Canaanites; they were better because they had the knowledge of God. Again, Laban spoke about God because they knew Him but they were not true worshippers in the sense of righteousness and holiness. Abraham wanted Isaac to marry from there because no other people in the world were righteous. No other community of people was like Abraham. The Lord was starting a life of faith through Abraham and he knew that his people had the fear of God. Abraham knew that if Isaac got a wife from there it would be okay since they would flow freely with the plan of God.
We cannot do the same now because there are many believers the Lord can choose from for you to marry. Besides, the emphasis is on salvation and righteousness. Of course, as the bible tells us we are children of Abraham by faith. Those who are children of Abraham by the flesh are not the sons of God but those who are children of Abraham by faith are the sons of God. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; so, marriage must be under such confinement within the household of faith. You will not go to your village to look for your wife there; God will give you a wife. Even If she is from your village she must be born again and it must be the will of God. It is not after the pattern of Abraham’s time where righteous people were not there. God requires things to be done decently and in order.

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...
For taking your time to study remain blessed. FACTS TO BE UNDERSTOOD ON REVELATION MESSAGES WEDNESDAY JANUARY 11 TEXT: NUMBERS 12: 4-8. Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
