FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD REMAIN BLESSED.
FRIDAY 9th JULY
THE LOSS OF A SPOUSE IS NOT THE END OF LIFE
TEXT: Isaiah 54:4-5
Key verse: Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother,
and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot
be my disciple.
We all know that in marriage, when one partner dies, it is often a painful experience for the surviving husband or wife as it leaves a big vacuum in the home. This is especially true if the departed partner had played his or her role well in the marriage union. They must have become used to each other, sharing many things in common in times of joy and in times of difficulties. They must have been comforters and encouragers to each other in the course of their relationship. Naturally, widowhood throws up some challenges which include: Financial burden – one person carrying the responsibility of two people alone, loneliness, and yearning for companionship and sex. Yet, in spite of such great loss and challenges, you must not lose hope as a widow or widower. You are not a reject of God so don't see yourself as such. Don't turn yourself into a beggar. Rather, find something useful to do for a living. Young widow, don't allow men to take advantage of you. Your body is not for sale. If you cooperate with God, God is already working out something great for you. You have a great promise concerning your future.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
God is assuring you that your tomorrow will be better. God is telling you that your tomorrow will be greater. God is promising you that your tomorrow will be glorious. God is encouraging you that your tomorrow will be more fruitful. Haggai 2:8, 9 The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, saith the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts. You widow, I want you to know that you have a greater husband in Jesus. I want you to know that your husband did not create you, but Jesus did. You widower, I want you to know that your wife did not die for you, but Jesus did. Your husband did not give you salvation, Jesus did. Jesus is your life, your hope, and your salvation. Your relationship with Jesus is higher than any man or woman, dead or alive.
Thought for the day: You lost a marriage partner, not God. Rejoice in your Creator and Saviour.
Song for the day: The best friend to have is Jesus…
Bible reading for the day: Job 40-42; Acts 15:22-41
