THE WORD OF GOD IS SPIRITUAL FOOD FOR THE SOUL
TEXT: Psalm 19:7-9
Key verse: Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.


Today's devotional text shows us the characteristics, qualities, and attributes of the word of God which are as follows:
I. The word of God is perfect – there is nothing to do to add to it or subtract from it. It is just perfect!
II. The word of God is sure – it is certain. There is no ambiguity about it. There is no uncertainty about it. It is sure and dependable.
III. The word of God is right – what God says is right. The commandment of God is always right and can never be faulted.
IV. The word of God is pure – it is pure. There is no error in it. There is no dirt in it. It is pure.
V. The word of God is clean – the word of God is clean and without blemish. There is no dirt or filthiness in it. It has no pollution or defilement.
VI. The word of God is true and righteous – there is no lie in it.
There is no deception in it. There is no sin in it. It will make you holy. It will perfect you for heaven.
For these reasons, man should feed on the word of God and live by it every day of his life for the sake of eternal life. The word of God is the revelation of God's mind and God's nature to mankind. God's word is a food formula to enrich our souls and give us eternal life. Today's key verse says man shall feed upon EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Man shall live by it. Man shall be nourished by it. Because it is perfect, man should feed on its perfection. Because the word is sure, man should live by it to be sure, sincere, and certain about the mind of God on any issue of life. Again, because it is right, the word will make you live right with God and fellow human beings. Because of its purity, the word will enable you to live a clean, pure, and holy life. And because it is altogether true and righteous, feeding on the word and living by it will guarantee you eternal life.
