YOU ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD THURSDAY JUNE 29 TEXT: JOHN 17: 6-14 Key verse: “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hated you” John 15:19 Jesus often spoke of the world and He prayed for His disciples. He said of His disciples that He had manifested the name of the Father unto His disciples. The disciples had become convinced that Jesus had come from God. God created the habitable world and He is the owner of all things created. When Jesus spoke about leaving the disciples in the world he was speaking about the natural creation, the natural habitation of men on earth made up of countries, nations, cities and villages. But Satan came into this natural world and influenced the men of this world with sin, rebellion and hatred of God and that furnished another world that the devil is the god of. It forms another world that is an existing organization, a way of life which Satan brought into this created world and influenced the human beings that are in it to go after his own system, values and beliefs. It is the world of iniquity that is designed and established by the enemy of God. It is of this world that Jesus said, “I have given them your word and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world” John 17:14. Jesus was speaking of this evil system and not of the inhabited world of animals, of stars and of trees etc. He was speaking of the organized evil system that hates righteousness. The world has its pattern and everyone walks in it except those who are saved out of that system because in that world you don’t obey or fear God nor do the will of God. Even though, you are not of this world, yet you live with sinners, surrounded by sinners. Worship activities of the true God and standards of godliness have also been manipulated by the evil one to damn the souls of men, but take note you are not of this world. In case you visit a church and they are worshipping after the pattern of the world, don’t join them because you are not of this world. You have been quickened and been removed from the place of sin, so come out of from among them and be separate. Love not the world. Thought for the day: The world has its pattern and everyone walks in it except the believers. Song for the day: I will never, never go back to the world, never go back to the world.
