THE DUTY OF PRAYER WEDNESDAY JUNE 14
TEXT: MATTHEW 7:7-11
Key verse: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” Philippians 4:6.
Here the Lord reveals to us our duty as long as we want good things from Him for ourselves and for others. If we do so then we must engage ourselves in the duty of prayers by asking, seeking and knocking even when the circumstances look hard. Talking about the challenges of life, the Lord Jesus is saying that our faith in Him and prayer to our God will bring solution, but some cases may require fasting. This was seen among the Jews when Esther declared three days fasting and prayer and requested the Jews to fast for her. Don't expect things to work automatically, rather God expect you to ask and enquire from Him, so He can release the good things He kept for you, but if you do not ask He will still keep those good things for you. The Lord told His angels here are these blessings as you go to that man's house, that woman’s house, as you enter that church, hold the blessings, all those that open their mouth and pray and ask for blessings, hear what they ask and then release the blessing to them.
The information has been given to the angels already. In case you are thinking it in your heart, angels don't know what you are thinking in your heart unless you speak out, the blessing remain in their hands. Not that God doesn't know all you are thinking in your heart or answer you, but that is in some circumstance, because even Jesus didn't pray in His heart. If He was thinking, then the words of His prayer would not have been written down. Again, His disciples would not have come and asked Him to teach them to pray, nothing would have inspired them. It's as you open your mouth to pray, the angel will come closer to hear what you are saying or asking and they release the blessing for the Lord has told them whatever you ask they should release it. Your answer to prayer is directly related to your duty of prayer. You must labour fervently in your prayers, for such was the prayer that gave Hannah answers to her prayer, even though her voice was not heard but her lips was moving. To make your holiness consistent and a blessing to others you need to add fervent prayers to it.
Thought for the day: God is raising up prayer warriors for end time revival.
Song for the day: Prayer is the key; Prayer is the key…..
Bible reading for the day: Ezra 6-8; John 21
