Be Careful How You See Money And Use It
Thursday 12th March
Text: Proverbs 1:17-19
Key Verse: 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
The word of God is a double-edged sword with the power to save and to condemn. Similarly, the tongue has dual operations, to bless or to curse, depending on how you use it (James 3:8, 9). Money also falls into the category of things that have both positive and negative manners of operation. On the one side, money is seen as being good, but on the other side, it is considered a great evil. Believers are sternly warned against the love of money. Be careful with money! It is evil, and it contains some evil properties that hurt many in the world. It impoverishes, kills, destroys, and damns the souls of men to hell. Nevertheless, money is good too, because we live and relate with one another through the use of money. Sincerely, money is responsible for the many instances of man’s disobedience and enmity against God. The love of money is the root of all evil. It is the reason evils are being done. Check through yourself to see whether this money has done its evil in your life.
As good and necessary as money is, it is dangerous to fall in love with it. When in love with money, you have set up for yourself another god who will rule your life. Those in love with money can kill for it. They can sacrifice their mother, father or children for money. Money can blind the eye and harden the heart against God and His commandments. It can also puff up and make you look down on others. In fact, knowing these weaknesses in some people may be the reason God has not blessed them with much money, because it will drag them away from Him, and He does not want to lose them. Stay on the good side of money to avoid backsliding. The love of money is the lust of the things of the world, and you will never be satisfied. You will always want more. Make Jesus Christ your satisfaction, not money or anything money can buy. The ground of money is slippery. Many have fallen by it. They were celebrated on earth but are now in eternal regret in hell. Don’t follow their footsteps.
