TOPIC: BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY GHOST 

TEXT: ACTS 10:44-46  
MONDAY AUGUST 14TH

Key verse: Acts 2:4: "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” 
Baptism with the Holy Ghost or the gift of the Holy Ghost is the coming of the Holy Spirit upon a believer in baptismal measure for the purpose of filling him with power for effective Christian service. All believers are promised the baptism with the Holy Spirit by God. This is received by prayer and faith in God's promises. 
Acts 1:8: "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost comes upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” 
Luke 11:13: "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him.” 
The scriptural evidence of baptism with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues as the Spirit inspires. 
Speaking in tongues as evidence of baptism with the Holy Spirit is given to every believer who is baptized with the Holy Spirit for the purpose of prayer and personal edification. This is, however, different from speaking in tongues as a ministry gift which God does not give to every believer, as the gifts of prophecy, healing, working of miracles, etc. 
1 Corinthians 12:28-31 28 "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” 

Thought for the day: God has promised all believers the baptism with the Holy Spirit.
