TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING THE LANGUAGE OF SUFFERING
TEXT: Philippians 2: 5–11
KEY VERSE: Psalm 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
Suffering is a language announcing your bright future. Jesus passed through it too. In fact, the more you suffer in righteousness, the brighter your future according to God’s ordination. Are you suffering in the manner of Jesus? Then listen to what the scripture is saying: it is a language that is announcing a blessedness coming to you. Romans 8: 18 – 19 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. Suffering is a language that speaks about your future. It is speaking of a glory that is coming upon you. This glory is preceded by suffering. As the rain is preceded by the wind, so is glory preceded by suffering. So, in case you are passing through untold suffering, hatred, you are abandoned or frustrated even from school, confused because nothing is working well for you despite your efforts; it is a message to you that you are going somewhere. It is a language saying a glory is waiting for you, and that if you can seek the path of God, you will fly from prison to the throne. Discover the way of God and His righteousness.
The God of heaven is able to change your suffering as He changed that of Joseph. Remember that He does not need the help of any man to do it. He does not need the help of any woman to do it. No He doesn’t! Something good is coming your way after your suffering in righteousness. 2 Corinthians 4: 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. The light affliction that you are passing through is working out a great eternal weight of glory for your life. Just understand this language, otherwise what will you say about all these frustrations in the life of Joseph? Frustration in the family, sold to Egypt; in Egypt, taken to prison! What type of thing is this? It is the language of the future.
Thought for the day: The cross will come before the crown.
Song for the day: I have a Father that will never, never fail me
Bible reading for the day:
1Samuel 4-6; Luke 12:35-59
