TOPIC: GOD’S WORKS OF MERCY
TEXT: GENESIS 20:1-8
KEY VERSE: Genesis 20:6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

Our God is merciful. He is not quick to judge or condemn. He is not interested in the fall or destruction of people. He is a loving God, who exercises much patience with the sinner giving him period of grace for repentance, and sometimes obstructing his descent into sin without necessarily interfering with his free choice. The story of king Abimelech is instructive. God saw the sincerity of Abimelech and decided to save him by demonstrating His mercies through some strange happenings, such as shutting up the womb of every woman in the king’s household. They were all plagued with barrenness. He even restrained the king from touching Sarah (Genesis 20:6). This could have manifested as some kind of ailment or disease just to get the king’s attention. Unfortunately, the king did not get the message until God appeared to him in a dream. God speaks in many ways. Sometimes in plain language, sometimes through indirect speech as in parables and sometimes circumstantially.

Job 33:14-18  For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;  Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

You might have been made to suffer some hardship to call your attention to the wrong you have done. God may be using one sign or the other to call your attention to repentance so you can repent from your sin and be delivered. These signs are the works of His mercy in your life. Like Abimelech, correct your ways. Return that which you stole or took illegally. Seek and make peace with those you have defrauded. God will bless you if you do this. Genesis 20:14, 17 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and women servants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

Thought for the day: Learn to take advantage of God’s mercy in good time.

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
