TOPIC: JESUS IS LORD AND SAVIOUR
DECEMBER Tuesday 25th
TEXT: Isaiah 9: 6-7
KEY VERSE: Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1: 23
Angels were sent to herald the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind. Jesus came to save man from eternal damnation of hell fire. Today generality of Christians worldwide commemorate the coming of our Redeemer into this sinful world for the salvation of man. The birth of Jesus was of great excitement to the angels. The deplorable state of men on earth under the rule of Satan had been a concern. Now the Lord Himself had come down for the salvation of men! A mighty host of angels were seen by the shepherds praising God. We need to learn something here from the angelic praise: They praised God by uttering distinct words to the edification of the hearers; Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill towards men. The angels praised God for this act of love and sacrifice for mankind. Now God would be glorified as men on earth would experience righteousness and peace.
In His new fashion as a man, His Father was greater than Him, because the Father was in His full glory as God when Jesus came to earth. The scripture shows us moments when Jesus praised and thanked the Father. At the grave of Lazarus, when Jesus went to raise Lazarus back to life, the first thing He uttered in prayer was thanksgiving to the Father for His faithfulness in answering His prayers. By this Jesus shows us that God must be praised, thanked and adored as a prayer answering God. When we come before God in prayer, we must remember to praise, thank and worship Him as our faithful Creator, Father and Lover, Who is good and merciful. When the disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray, He made them to know that the first thing they should do when they come into the presence of God in prayer was to offer praise, thanksgiving and adoration to God. Another Christmas is here for you to thank, praise and adore God for the gift of His Son for your salvation, sustenance, security, spiritual and material blessings of life. Your joy and comfort should not be in feasting and merriment, but in the understanding of the great love God has for you. God is delighted when men reciprocate His love by repenting from sin and surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Thought for the day: Have you been saved from all sins?
Song for the day: Silent night, holy night
Bible reading for the day:
