TOPIC: CLARIFICATIONS ON USE OF FACIAL POWDER
OCTOBER Thursday 18th
TEXT: Isaiah 3: 16-24
KEY VERSE: And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life. Jeremiah 4: 30
QUESTION: I heard from some people that the use of powder is not a sin but I told them it is a sin. Please tell us something about it in the bible, because some of us that have babies or children we still use powder for them. Even when we have rashes we still use them. I want to know if it is a sin to use powder.
ANSWER: To use powder on your child’s body to arrest heat or any other thing is not wrong. To use powder on your own body, maybe medicated, while at home, to arrest heat is not wrong. But don’t paint your face with powder. Don’t paint your face with powder to seek for beauty. Those who do such painting do so for a purpose, to achieve artificial beauty, to appear more attractive to men. It is part of the dressing of a harlot.
The aim of this painting is to arrive at smooth face, beautiful face and attractive appearance. That is wickedness! It is evil. The idea is to smoothen your face, since to you, it is not properly made smooth enough by the Creator! It is a subtle accusation against your Maker. You may say, my own is not like that, my own is because I sweat a lot. Are you the only person God made in this world? What about all others who sweat? Must we go on powder? No. Those who paint their faces with powder desire to achieve beauty. Avoid that in your life as a Christian.
Thought for the day: God loves natural beauty and appearance
Song for the day: Holiness is the beauty of the believer
Bible reading for the day:
Isaiah 65-66; 2 Thessalonians 1.
