God bless you for taking the time to study.
TOPIC: MARY THE HIGHLY FAVOURED MOTHER OF JESUS
TEXT: LUKE 1: 26-38
SUNDAY NOVEMBER 27th
Key Verse: Luke 1: 45. And blessed is she that believeth for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
Mary was the virgin woman through which the Saviour of the world, Jesus Christ was born to save mankind. God allowed it that way so that he can go through the normal process of delivery as other humans went through. Mary was highly blessed among women to be the one to give birth to Jesus Christ. She took the message from the angel with great humility and said, “Be it unto me according to Thy word”.
Mary at that time was already in courtship with Joseph but never defiled herself like the world does these days. She kept her virginity and lived a holy lifestyle that heaven took note of. She nurtured Jesus with care and diligence knowing who He is to the world and was bringing Him to the house of the Lord. Mary saw the wisdom and qualities in Him but kept note of it. She was always careful not to use harsh words on Him even when they sought and later found Him. At the wedding in Cana of Galilee, she told the disciples “whatsoever He tells you to do, do it.”
She was in total obedience to Joseph in adhering to all the instructions God was giving to him to save the life of the Child. Mary as a committed lover of God was always found among the brethren even after the Lord ascended to heaven. Mary did not use her position as the earthly mother of Jesus to control the rest of the disciples. She was always humble.
Mary accepted that she was “the handmaid of the Lord”, respecting the Lord as her Lord. Unfortunately, some people worship the image of Mary today which is complete idolatry. Mary made it to heaven through the holy life she lived and maintained. The standard of God has not changed: Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by Him.
