TOPIC: TRUTH PRODUCES GODLINESS AND GODLINESS, ETERNAL LIFE

TEXT: Titus 1:1-3

1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

KEY VERSE: John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 

The evidence of truth is that it produces godliness. Teach the people the truth, you will see them do wonderfully. In an environment of truth, if somebody’s money falls on the ground, nobody will pick it.  They will not because they have leant the truth of restitution. Truth produces godliness in hope of eternal life. 

The reason why you are godly, righteous and not committing sin is that you want to go to heaven. The reason you are no more stealing, going into immorality, no more telling lies and you are correcting your ways is in hope of eternal life. Who told you about this eternal life? It is God who cannot lie that made the promise before the world began. 

He promised to give eternal life to righteous people. It is a firm promise of God that He will give eternal life to people who have forsaken their sinful ways and embraced the holy way of life. He has promised from the beginning of the age that He will give eternal life to sinners who forsake their evil ways and come to Him as long as they follow the truth. 

Truth gives godliness and godliness gives eternal life. Where there is no truth, there can neither be godliness, nor eternal life. If your church does not preach the truth, it is not possible to live a godly life there and you cannot find eternal life there no matter the multitude of worshippers. 

Dig a hole and fill it with water, you can make it a swimming pool but you will not find fish there because it is not connected to the source of fish. So the mega-size of your church does not mean eternal life is there if it is not connected to the source. Truth is not there; godliness is not there. Check up their lives, do you see godliness there? Do you see godliness in their clothing, in their relationship? So where will you find eternal life? 

But where there is godliness there is the hope of eternal life. I had a revelation myself that I had died and I appeared before the gate of heaven and I entered heaven very freely, very cheaply and I said to myself, “So this heaven is very simple; people can enter it freely.” How will it not be easy to the godly person, who has known the truth, who is practising the truth; he will surely enter freely. 

Thought for the day: Those who forsake the truth of God, forsake His gift of eternal life.
