HOLINESS AND PERFECTION IN CHRISTIANITY

 FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD REMAIN BLESSED.

DATE: SUNDAY MARCH 14
TOPIC: HOLINESS AND PERFECTION IN CHRISTIANITY
TEXT: Romans 8:3-4
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
KEY VERSE: Romans 6:22 But now been free from sin, and have become servants to God; ye have your fruit unto holiness and the end everlasting life.
There are three things to note about God: God is free from sin, God is holy and God has everlasting life. These three things are also required in a man: freedom from sin, holiness and everlasting life. There must be first freedom from sin which is a state of holiness before there can be everlasting or eternal life.
There must be freedom from sin and holiness before heaven. You want to go to heaven? It means you want everlasting life. If so, be free from sin and you will get there. Live in holiness so that you can have everlasting life.
Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. By this scripture, somebody must make you free from sin. “Being made free” means power must make you free from sin. “Being made” means somebody made it. Somebody must tamper with your life to cause sin to be removed.
Thereafter, there would be evidence of being made free: your fruits will be unto holiness. That is the evidence that you have been made free from sin. Your fruit, product, manifestation, and that which you bear must be holy. Behaviour, lifestyle, walk, nature must be holy. It is then you are going to have everlasting life. Somebody must make you. Who is that? Jesus!
Today’s devotional text states that it is the Son of God that can make you free from sin. He came in the body and likeness of the sinful man to make people free from sin. In His sacrifice, He has condemned sin in the flesh, so that you can still live in this life in your flesh without committing sin. The reason for that is to have holiness and everlasting life.
This you cannot do by yourself, hence somebody must do it for you and that Person is Jesus; but your participation is required. The vehicle has the engine and the capacity to take you there, but you have to drive the vehicle to get there. The vehicle is made ready but you have to steer and move it to your destination.
Holiness is a state of a believer’s heart in which he is cleansed, purified or sanctified in his heart to live free from sin. It is a gospel state you come into by faith in the Lord Jesus. It is a gospel possession you come into and receive. It is gospel attainment you come into it and achieve.
Thought for the day: Holiness is possible. Seek it! Possess it!! Attain it!!!
Song for the day: Sanctify me, Lord, purify me, Lord, make me holy, Lord make me an image of You…..
Bible reading for the day: Deuteronomy 23-25;

KEY VERSE: It came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said, Lord, teach us how to pray as John taught his disciples. Luke 11: 1. When Jesus Christ came to us in the flesh, He went into the business of prayer because He was promoting the attribute of God as a prayer-answering God. He would not render that attribute idle or redundant. Nobody knew how John did it, but Jesus reveals here that the success you saw in the ministry of John the Baptist, the victory you saw in his ministry, is because he was a prayer man. John so much valued prayer. He saw the essentials of pr...
