TOPIC: TESTIMONY OF A MUSLIM CONVERT – Part 1

TEXT: 2 Timothy 4:1-2
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

KEY VERSE: Psalm 40:9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. 

It all started with an argument about Christianity and Islam between me and my co-tenant. I had always argued that God cannot have a child. One day, I accepted to start following the woman that always asked me to become a Christian to their Tuesday Bible Study at Holiness Revival Movement Worldwide (HOREMOW), Lafia Chapter, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. 

I went with the intention of gaining more ground to argue against Christianity. In one of the occasions, I was given a handbill for the 2019 December conference by the wife of the Lafia Chapter leader. She told me that if I attended the conference I would discover the superiority of Christianity over Islam. On hearing this, I accepted the invitation. But I soon began to have mixed feelings about the conference, so I went to hide in the village. 

But while I was in the village, the Lord was trailing me. An evangelist came to my village for a crusade on the 4th of December 2019. As usual, I attended the programme for mockery but God used the man of God to tell me that I have a great future and if I could submit to Him, He would use me as a vessel of honour.  I told him, “No sir! I am a great sinner and God cannot use a sinner like me.”

I left the crusade ground and on my way home, I had a burden on my heart to pray about these two religions in order to know which is the right way. So along the road, I stopped and looked up to heaven. The moon and stars were shining. I stood and with a loud voice I began to question the moon and stars, “Who hanged you up there? What is holding you up there? Who gives you the power to shine like this? 

I know there is a God who created all things and gave power of existence to all things including the moon and the stars. Now I am not praying to God of Christianity or the god of Islam. I am rather praying to the God of the universe that created me and the entire moon and stars. I am confused. I am in a junction. Show me the way out of my confusion about Christianity and Islam. Which one is the true religion to serve you?”
