TOPIC: A HOLY MAN MAY MAKE HONEST MISTAKES BASED ON LIMITED KNOWLEDGE

TEXT: 2 Kings 20:12-18

At that time Berodach–baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.  And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.  Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.  And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.  And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord .  Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord .  And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

KEY VERSE: Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

In today’s devotional text, we see how the king of Babylon sent envoys to felicitate with king Hezekiah after his recovery from a terminal ailment.  In his naivety, he showed them all the treasures in his house. He did it with innocence to evil and without much thought. He did not do it out of pride.

He welcomed them with sincere and true heart. But although he was sincere, he was wrong because later a prophet came to him and said, “Do you know this thing you did was without wisdom? Do you know that you have exposed yourself to your potential enemy?” Lack of knowledge is the problem of the holy man when you see him make mistakes.

A holy man may make mistakes because he lacks sufficient knowledge and understanding. You can find fault with him but not with his motive. Hezekiah was sincere, simple, natural, original, clean and loving. In his innocence, he showed the envoy the wealth in his kingdom.

He did not realize his mistake until a prophet came and said, “Do you know that these people that you have shown these things are coming back to empty your treasury?” It was then Hezekiah’s eyes opened. He gained knowledge.

It is in situations like this you find a holy man with mistakes. He made mistakes because he lacked information or he was given wrong information. If he had the correct information he wouldn’t have done that. But in spite of his error, he is sincere and holy.

So, the holy man as the word tells us is devoid of sinful lifestyle, evil thoughts, evil words and evil works. He doesn’t have them; they have been removed; they have been cleaned out; his cloth is clean and there is no dirt there; he is devoid of it.

I am saying this in case you see a holy man so that you don’t begin to suspect him anyhow. Don’t say, “Hey, I know where he is going now; I know what he is saying now.” Don’t be doing that; otherwise, you will be sinning against yourself because of your impure heart.

To the impure, all things are impure. He is dealing whole heartedly with you but your impure heart is making you to think otherwise. Why do you spend time thinking evil which the man is not in the man’s agenda? Be pure and your thoughts will be pure.

Thought for the day: Purge yourself of every evil thoughts and motives.

Song for the day: Holiness is the beauty of believer, Lord I want to be holy….

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

For taking your time to study remain blessed. UNDERSTANDING ETERNITY WEDNESDAY MAY 10 TEXT: Psalm 90: 1 - 2 Key Verse: “The Lord is King forever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land Psalm 10:16 People that understand eternity are always careful. Eternity means forever and ever, it means ever-lasting, ever-living, never dying. Trillion upon trillion years, eternity is still on, in fact it is life without end. There are two extreme ends of eternity: The kingdom of God called third heaven where God the Father, God the son, God the Holy Ghost, twenty-four elders, saints of God that make heaven, holy angels of God, and entire host of heaven dwell now presently; Hell-fire, where Satan, demons, and sinners that have died in their sins are presently kept. God is the One that introduced eternity. He lives forever. It is not a choice, the One who created us is forever, hence you will live forever, but what matters is where you will live eternally. Remove God from the way, then t...
