DISCIPLINE IN BODILY DRESSING AND ADORNMENT

TEXT: REVELATION 17: 1-4 

THURSDAY JANURY 5th 

Key Verse: Proverbs 7: 10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtle of heart.
This study is on outward dressing of believers and Christian leaders. Ensure you do not wear any cloth that is sub-standard. Discipline yourself in your outward appearance. The scriptures have spoken a lot against the use of jewellery; rings, chains, earrings, necklace and so forth. Satan has turned to putting jewels and rings on clothes and clothing materials these days. Do you know that precious stones and dazzling clothes were the dressing of the harlot in our scriptural text today? It makes the cloth shine like stars. Since they are not heavenly stars, their glory in human dressing and adornment is a disturbance to our environment. Remove those stones. Discipline yourself that no single shining stone will be on your clothes. Determine to be natural. Destroy the shining clothes you had before you knew Jesus, not minding the cost. Do not keep them in your box because they can eventually cause backsliding. In the same way, Christian men should avoid tight-fitting trousers, tight-fitting T-shirts and body hugs, public use of knickers, chains, rings and jewellery. Men should avoid punk hair, twisted hair and all ungodly hairstyles, not befitting of godliness.   
Remove the reproach of Egypt from off your life. You might have snapped some pictures when you were a sinner adorned like the daughter of Satan and hung round your house. Now that you are a Christian, remove them out of your house. Let people see newness in your life. If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away. If any man’s house has become Christ’s, it is a new house. Gather those things; properties, wrong clothes and pictures and remove them out of your house. This is Christian discipline to ensure you get to heaven. If you do not want to fall, nothing should draw your mind back to yesterday. You are moving forward; you have not yet attained but you want to attain the heavenly calling in Christ Jesus. You should be serious about it. Woman, you say you are born again but your skirts have not gone down well. They are still flying. Amend them or change them.
