TOPIC: DON’T REJECT GODLY CORRECTION AND REBUKE –  IT IS FOR YOUR GOOD

TEXT: Proverbs 15:10-12

KEY VERSE: Hebrews 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

If your pastor cannot rebuke you because you will get angry at his rebuke, then you are a bastard and not a child of God. As there are bastards in the society, so are there bastards in the church. They don’t have fathers, they don’t have mentors, they are bastards because they cannot take corrections; they cannot take rebuke; they get angry when they are reproved. They are bold-faced and the leader must not rebuke them. The word of God says if you cannot be rebuked, then you are a bastard. Sometimes, earthly fathers rebuke and chastise their children even in their innocence. What do the children do? Do they fight back because they were chastised in their innocence? No! They take the chastisement patiently because it is their father. Why then are you not taking chastisement patiently in the church because you think that you are righteous? If you are truly a righteous man you would have known that even Jesus suffered unjustly and He did not open His mouth. Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep, before her shearers are dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Hebrews 12:9 “Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?  Many of us have testimonies that we obeyed our fathers even when they acted wrongly; even when they did it roughly. Some parents will tie their children with rope, deny them food and use many other harsh methods and we subjected ourselves to their discipline. How much more this God of eternal life? Now you are no longer under your earthly father, you are no longer under his control because you are an adult now. Your father is even treating you as a father. When you go home he says, “Oh my father welcome?” Or he treats you as a friend now. He doesn’t beat you anymore because you have graduated. What about the One that will keep you forever, don’t you want Him to fashion you according to His interest, according to His vision? If not, how will He keep you forever? Hebrews 12:10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.”

Thought for the day: Accept godly rebuke for it will profit your life.

Song for the day: Father of life draw me closer, Lord my heart is set on You….

KEY VERSE: It came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said, Lord, teach us how to pray as John taught his disciples. Luke 11: 1. When Jesus Christ came to us in the flesh, He went into the business of prayer because He was promoting the attribute of God as a prayer-answering God. He would not render that attribute idle or redundant. Nobody knew how John did it, but Jesus reveals here that the success you saw in the ministry of John the Baptist, the victory you saw in his ministry, is because he was a prayer man. John so much valued prayer. He saw the essentials of pr...
