TOPIC: STRIVE FOR ETERNAL LIFE

TEXT: Hebrews 11:13-16

13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.

15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had the opportunity to have returned.

16 But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

KEY VERSE: Proverbs 3:18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Eternal life was the drive of the patriots of old in their pilgrimage journey through the earth. That was what compelled them to reach the end in spite of all odds. That was what made them to die for the faith, to die in service, to die in opposition, and to die in poverty. In today’s devotional text, the Bible says these all died in faith, not having received the promises. Eternal life was the drive of the Patriarchs of old; it was the energy that worked in them.

The pull-on them was: there is a better place than the earth. It is a city not built with hand. Here on earth, we live in cities built with hand, but there is a city not built with a hand for God is the Builder of it. It is not on earth but in heaven. These patriarchs who are fathers of old, Noah, Enoch, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David and the prophets, all laboured for this eternal life, died in hope of it, and enjoyed the first resurrection.

Greater men than us, men more knowledgeable than we have lived valuing eternal life and despising the world. The riches of the world, the honour of the world and the pleasures of the world were all despised by them to earn eternal life. Eternal life is the reason why Jesus came to the earth in human form.

1 John 1:1-3 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us:) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

The Apostle John said we saw eternal life with our eyes. That was the Person of Jesus! In the beginning, was the word; the word of eternal life. Jesus was eternal life. Forever Oh LORD thy word is settled in Heaven; forever Oh Lord, Jesus is eternal life, for he said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” He is the life that is eternal. Jesus is the one that lives forever. Amen!

Thought for the day: Make eternal life the primary focus of your life.

Song for the day: I am looking for a city with a true foundation, a home in Heaven not made by men…..:

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...
For taking your time to study remain blessed. FACTS TO BE UNDERSTOOD ON REVELATION MESSAGES WEDNESDAY JANUARY 11 TEXT: NUMBERS 12: 4-8. Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
