WORSHIPING GOD IN HOLINESS WEDNESDAY JANUARY 4
TEXT: NEHEMIAH 8: 1-10
Key verse: “And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground” Nehemiah 8:6. ...
This scriptural account gives us a good understanding of worship activities in a religious congregation in Israel. This is similar to the pattern of worship activities in the New Testament church. The congregation came together for the purpose of hearing the word of God. Their activity centred on the word of God. Here Ezra the priest was the pastor of the congregation, having other elders and workers in his support, the word was read to the congregation of both men and women, who listened attentively to it, Ezra led the people in a period of praise and worship of God: he blessed the Lord, the great God. The people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up of hands. They all bowed their heads and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground. Ezra opened the book of the law in the sight of all people, who stood in honour of the word of God. The people wept, prayed and repented before the Lord, because of the convicting power of the word of God in their hearts and were assured and comforted by the ministers. They rejoiced greatly for the Lord's works and presence among them.
Note here that dancing was not included in the activities of this congregation. They praised and worshipped God with gladness, but did not dance. The word of God was the central thing and the main emphasis of their assembly. In many Christian Assemblies today, the word of God has lost its centrality, emphasis, attraction, authority and convicting power. Emphasis is not on the word, but on the pleasure of the worshippers. The present church is prone to dancing and looks for every occasion to indulge in it. The word of God is not honoured, not read distinctly, not applied to the lives of the people in sincere preaching. The worship service is so noisy that the soberness and attentiveness required for the convicting power of the word cannot be realized. The effect is that the members are emotionally excited, but not saved, cleansed and spiritually edified after the worship service.
Thought for the day: In His presence, seek His face and precept and guide against sacrifice of fools.
Song for the day: When I come into Your presence I’m so happy, when I come into Your presence…
Bible reading for the day: Genesis 9-11; Matthew 4

Signs And Wonders Should Be According To Biblical Pattern

God's blessings shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Signs And Wonders Should Be According To Biblical Pattern Text: Mark 16: 17 – 20 Wednesday May 8th Key verse: Obadiah 17 “Upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” God has prepared to direct us on holy service unto Himself. He tells us when the lives and services of people are corrupt because from the heart of men proceed the works they do. When people are righteous and holy, their service is also righteous and holy. Hence, the word says, make the people holy then their service will be holy, so if you accept to live a life of holiness, then the fruit of your service will be holy. So, it is very important to accept the life of holiness because the God that made you is holy; He will give you grace to be holy. You just make up your mind to be holy. Do not accept that no man can be holy; then Jesus came for nothing, Jes...
REMAIN BLESSED AS YOU TAKE YOUR TIME TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD AMEN. PRAY CONSTANTLY                                                                      FRIDAY 11 MARCH TEXT: Luke 18: 1-7 Key verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Pray without ceasing. I wish My children, whilst upon earth, to live more and more with Me in “the heavenly places”. Here, there is no fear or hurry or fret of spirit. I am gratified when you wait upon Me –which waiting I always honour. My thoughts, as you wait upon Me, are impressed upon you: all that I am must be increasingly absorbed by you. It is as you wait upon Me that I give to you that sense of calm assurance which you must carry about with you always. It comes from knowing that everything you have committed to Me is being surely worked out. Yes, immerse yourself in Me –and do ...
