The Precious Ministry Of Samuel
Monday 11th May
Text: 1 Samuel 3:19-21
Key Verse: And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli and the word of the Lord was precious in those days there was no open vision 1Samuel 3:1
Samuel had a unique and precious ministry. The children of Eli, Phinehas and Hophni were there, but truth could not be found in them. The word of the Lord manifested itself through Samuel. The Lord made Samuel the prophet of Israel because he was a righteous priest, the only one in charge of the work in the temple and sacrificing for the children of Israel. God picked Samuel, a righteous man and made him His mouthpiece in Israel. God put Himself in Samuel, and miracles followed him. Samuel maintained righteousness to the end. What is the testimony of your walk with God today? Now that the rapture is imminent and the close of the age is already everywhere, what is the testimony of your conscience before God and men? Samuel had a unique testimony witnessed by the nation of Israel on how holily and justly he lived among them. How are you projected before God? What are your records before God in case you are to face judgment today?
In the days of Samuel, corruption was very high both in society and in the church. The sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were sinners who made men abhor the sacrifice of the Lord. They were drunkards, gluttons, lacked manners and were forceful; they were greedy and robbers in the temple, yet they were ministers in the temple. They were committing immorality with women in the temple; their father rebuked them, but they did not obey. But Samuel grew up righteously among them like a lily among thorns in a dunghill growing among dirt, yet, coming beautifully untainted and excellent to behold, that was Samuel. This is because he submitted to home training, and the words of the mother sank into him. The training Samuel received remained in his heart. All that his parents taught him and all the instructions of his mother remained in his heart and kept him from sinning against God. Samuel was different; he grew differently because of his home training.
