God's blessings will continually accompany you for dedicating time to your studies
Testimony Of God’s Call By Pastor Paul Rika (Part 2)
Saturday 2nd May
Text: Psalm 25: 1-5
Key Verse: Psalms 25:4 “Show me Thy ways, O Lord, teach me Thy paths.”
I went to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. In 1986, I attended a program organised by Ben Oruma, the chaplain of Kongo campus, but before the program, George Adeboye was invited from Kwara State by the Fellowship of Christian Students, FCS. At that time, I was the general coordinator of the Deeper Life Campus Fellowship in ABU. While he was ministering, he said, “There is a young man here, something is going on inside your spirit concerning going to full-time after school. Listen to me carefully. Concerning going on full-time after the school you are presently in. The Lord says I should say unto you, ‘As long as ye desire to go, your NYSC posting shall be to such a place as I desire, and you will be starting from there. This will certainly come to pass after the end of your education in the school you presently live, and it shall be well with you.” “Ah! This man has located me.” I went to see him after the message and said, “I am the person you were talking about.” He said, “Be available before God. When the fulness of time comes, it shall surely come to pass.”
After my studies, a brother asked if I had a place that I wanted to serve so he could do it for me. I said, “No. God said my NYSC shall be to such a place as He desires. Don’t change it.” I was posted to Deeper Life Bible Church, Benue State. I met the State Overseer and said, “Sir, by the leading of God, I will be going on full-time after my NYSC here.” He said, “Okay, at the end of the NYSC we shall see.” I came back towards the end of the NYSC and said, “Sir, remember I told you that I will be going on full-time after my NYSC.” He said, “You are not yet ready. You have not even married. Go and look for work and wait. When it is time, the Lord will show it.”
The pastor said that I was not fully prepared. “In which way?” He gave his own reason that I was not married. To me, the vision has been dashed! Something I had kept alive for five years collapsed! When I was going back after my NYSC, I was ashamed because I had told some people I would be going on full-time after my NYSC.
