TOPIC: REQUIRED QUALIFICATION FOR WOMEN IN MINISTRY
TEXT: Genesis 18:17-19 THURSDAY FEBRUARY 2
Key verse: “Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;” 1Timothy 3:8
There is qualification for this work. The wives must have control over themselves, they must be grave, not slanderers, not full of talk of the people the husband is pastoring, not full of criticizing people under the ministry of the husband, whether men or women, everybody, finding fault with everybody No! Be sober and faithful in all things. Qualification is required of you, woman, that the Lord has given a godly husband and given your husband a great ministry, the ministry of this end-time. You need to submit and do your work. If Sarah did not cooperate with Abraham the ministry would have been frustrated.
We would never have heard the name of Abraham that we hear now and the will of God through Abraham would never have been achieved. May be the Lord would have changed it over to another man. Some things would have been hidden from Abraham except that there was qualification from both Abraham and his wife Sarah. Can I hide anything from Abraham? No. I see Abraham and his wife committed, ruling their own house well. And this would require the commitment of Sarah. If Sarah had divided the children between her and Abraham, how could they have fulfilled the will of God or qualified to receive the fullness of God?
And now God said, Seeing that Abraham would rule his house well and the Lord will fulfil the promise He had made. It means that some promises would have been lost over the ministry of Abraham if Sarah was not cooperative. If Sarah never allowed a peaceful home, some promises of God would have been lost in the life of Abraham. You who are not married make this your prayer, ‘God, I will cooperate with and submit to the man you will give me to, so that the ministry you have called him to will prosper’, otherwise your marriage will be frustrated.
Thought for the day: Sarah’s cooperation helped Abraham to fulfil his ministry.
Song for the day: Abraham’s blessings are mine
Bible reading for the day: Exodus 29-30; Matthew 22:1-22
