FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD REMAIN BLESSED.
TOPIC: PROPER USE OF INSTRUMENTS IN PRAISE AND WORSHIP
DATE: TUESDAY MAY 4
TEXT: Psalm 150: 1-6
KEY VERSE: Ephesians 5: 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Whatever instruments used to praise and worship God must be with solemn sounds. It should produce solemn sounds that inspire worship. The purpose is for worship not for entertainment.
Sadly, modern-day churches have misused instruments to send away the Holy Spirit from among them. Thus these have become accursed instruments used to send away the Holy Ghost from among them.
They now stir up all kinds of pollutions. The people playing them are not children of God. They dress as worldly musicians. The styles, rhythm and beats they play do not glorify God. Their music is designed to arouse fleshly emotions as in disco halls.
The sobriety and solemnity required in worship to honour God and bring conviction to sinners for repentance are lost and sinners and backsliders rather dance and remain unconverted.
Knowing what these instruments do to congregations, we protect ourselves by not exposing our members to the danger of worldly gospel music. If indeed the Lord has called you to the music industry, it shall be music that glorifies God.
If you do it to the glory of God, it will be good, because music is also part of the scriptures. Now that the world has taken over gospel music, do we withdraw or raise people like David to offer godly praise unto God? When David played the instruments evil spirit went out from King Saul.
Note that singing is music with or without instruments. Congregational songs, hymns and choruses with clapping of hands are part of music, with or without musical instruments. Be informed that all through the New Testament era musical instruments are not mentioned except the use of harps in praise worship of God by redeemed saints in heaven.
This is the requirement of scripture. We do not need musical instruments to achieve this. Careful use of musical instruments can still achieve this, but what is important is singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.
