TOPIC: RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS COMPARED
NOVEMBER Monday 5th
TEXT: Genesis 17: 1-8
KEY VERSE: Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5: 48
If we are taking general definitions, it is quite exhaustive, but then righteousness has two definitions. The first definition is coming to a right standing with God. You come to right standing, acceptable standing with God. Then the second definition of righteousness is doing what is right according to God’s word. By the second definition of righteousness it equals to holiness because it is complete obedience to God’s word. Doing what is right in the sight of God. Holiness is obeying all the word of God. Righteousness is doing what is right in the sight of God. Holiness is obeying all the word of God, so it means the same thing. But before you come to the second meaning of righteousness, you have to come to the first meaning of righteousness which is by faith. You believe in Jesus and receive justification, acceptance before God.
The first meaning of righteousness is: the forgiveness of sins; to be born again; it is adoption; it is regeneration; it is reconciliation with God. It can be illustrated in this way: A person is admitted to school, the school gives you admission letter, and you come to the school. This is likened to the first meaning of righteousness. Now as a student you need to undergo training to earn a certificate. The fact that you are a student does not mean they will give you certificate automatically. You have to follow the rules of the school: Attend lectures, read your book, pass the examinations, do all the school requires you to do before you are given certificate. So when you come to acceptance with God, you must practice the rules of Christianity to you can receive the certificate of heaven.
A practical example can be seen in the life of Abraham. He had a relationship with God for a long time and the Lord came to Abraham and said, walk before Me and be thou perfect. But he has been walking with the Lord! Yes, but now, I set perfection before you. Go on to perfection, walk before me and be thou perfect. That’s perfection. Blessed are they that do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. That talks about fullness of righteousness, completeness of righteousness. Hence blamelessness, perfection, holiness, righteousness, and purity all go together.
Thought for the day: Righteousness is doing what is right in the sight of God; while Holiness is obeying all the word of God
Song for the day: Make me holy (3x) O Lord

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
