TOPIC: IS FAMILY PLANNING SCRIPTURAL?
NOVEMBER Wednesday 21st
TEXT: Genesis 38: 6-11
KEY VERSE: And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also. Genesis 38: 10
QUESTION: In the Bible, Onan was killed by God because of withdrawal and spilling semen on the ground during intercourse, so is it proper to use contraceptives?
ANSWER: That is misinterpretation of scripture. Onan was told to take his brother’s wife and produce a child because the brother had died. He didn’t want it and he was spilling the semen on the ground so that no child should be formed. He didn’t want that act of love for his brother. That means he was a wicked person and God killed him, not because he was spilling on the ground, but his reason for spilling on the ground. There are people who have wet dreams, and they wake up to discover that they have spilled on the bed, will God kill them? Onan’s sin was deliberate and planned; that of the heart, so the Lord killed him, because he was wicked. That scripture is not against contraception done in love and good faith to achieve a manageable family size.
The issue is, did God say there should be no birth control? He told Adam to be fruitful and multiply? How many male Children did He give to Adam as recorded? Two! Abel died, he was replaced by Seth. God said be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth, yet in Adam there were only two male children recorded, to show that it is not a literal thing that one man should do. God told Abraham, I have made you a father of many nations, but He gave Abraham only one child through Sarah. How many children did He give Isaac? Two! Isaac was also to be fruitful and multiply, but He gave him two.
Let the word of God dwell in you richly in all wisdom. So if God gave Adam two and another man and his wife feel that for the convenience and righteousness of life in this world we will need only two, will God judge them? No. God knows why He gave Adam two and this man and his wife have the reason why they want only two. They have not offended God neither have they broken the law to be fruitful and multiply. That law is not for their family alone, it is for all mankind.

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
