Unique manifestations of the Holy Spirit (1)

Wednesday 22nd October

Text: Acts 19: 11-13
Key verse: Acts 19:11 “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul.”
There were several unique manifestations of the Holy Spirit recorded in the scriptures. The apostles did not teach on any of these unique miracles in order to stir faith in the believers for them. None attempted to pray over little quantity of food, to multiply it for multitudes in a gospel meeting, as Jesus did. No disciple attempted to command water to turn to wine, as Jesus did. God can cause any of them to occur again in the ministry of any servant of His in His discretion and sovereign decision. These special manifestations of the Holy Spirit were also seen in the Acts of the Apostles. Such include the following, A: The shadow of Peter healed the sick. B: The Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip after having baptized the Ethiopian eunuch and he was found in Azotus. C: Handkerchiefs and aprons were taken from the body of Apostle Paul to the sick and oppressed and they were healed.
These were uncommon manifestations of the Holy Spirit in the early church which were not taught as doctrines to the body of believers. Only the shadow of Peter healed the sick. None of the apostles prayed that his shadow should do so. Ministers are nowhere exhorted to faith and prayer for their shadow to heal the sick. In fact, the shadow of Peter healed the sick within a given time only, after which his shadow ceased healing the sick. Men usually prefer to walk by the sight and not by faith. Had the shadow of Peter continued to heal the sick, they would have shifted their focus from God’s word to Peter’s shadow. This would have made them to miss the salvation of their souls. The wise God did not let that manifestation continue.
Handkerchiefs and aprons from the body of apostle Paul alone healed the sick and cast out devils and not the other apostles, including Barnabas. Paul did not exhort ministers to develop faith for this special miracle in their ministry. This special miracle was not duplicated in the ministry of Timothy, Titus or any of Paul’s close associates. It manifested at a time in Paul’s ministry and did not continue for the rest of his life and ministry because human beings are more interested in deliverance from sickness and other problems than from sin and eternal judgment of God.

Thought for the day: The apostles did not teach unique miracles to stir faith in them.

For taking your time to study remain blessed. UNDERSTANDING ETERNITY WEDNESDAY MAY 10 TEXT: Psalm 90: 1 - 2 Key Verse: “The Lord is King forever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land Psalm 10:16 People that understand eternity are always careful. Eternity means forever and ever, it means ever-lasting, ever-living, never dying. Trillion upon trillion years, eternity is still on, in fact it is life without end. There are two extreme ends of eternity: The kingdom of God called third heaven where God the Father, God the son, God the Holy Ghost, twenty-four elders, saints of God that make heaven, holy angels of God, and entire host of heaven dwell now presently; Hell-fire, where Satan, demons, and sinners that have died in their sins are presently kept. God is the One that introduced eternity. He lives forever. It is not a choice, the One who created us is forever, hence you will live forever, but what matters is where you will live eternally. Remove God from the way, then t...

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

The Testimony Of Jesus Is Spirit Of Prophecy.

God's blessings will continually accompany you for dedicating time to your studies. The Testimony Of Jesus Is Spirit Of Prophecy.  Monday 10th November  Text: Jude 1: 2-5 Key verse: Jude 1: 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. The faith of Jesus has already been delivered and it is written in the scriptures. Whatever prophecies, revelations or dreams that comes must not be contrary to the standard in the scripture. They must speak the same thing. The testimony of Jesus is spirit of prophecy. Every prophecy or revelation must honour Jesus and must be according to the written word. Even where they are new things, they must not contradict because the Bible is a summary of the things Jesus did. The Bible cannot contain all things. It must be according to what the scripture has already signified, ...
