Discipline In Friendship And Association  

Tuesday 28th October 

Text: Genesis 34: 1-2
Key verse: Proverbs 13: 20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. 
Some of your old friends are very nice and jovial. They look loving to you but they do not love Jesus; they do not want Him, they are not ready for Him. What then makes them precious to you that you always visit them, always allow them to visit you? Have you forgotten the word of God? Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. You may say when he comes, he actually makes me laugh; in fact, he shows me real love. Is there true love from a person who does not love his Creator? If he does not love God, do you think he can love you? Discipline yourself to cut off associations and friendships with people that do not know the Lord. Let it just be as you are in the world living in peace and greeting everyone but no intimate friendship. Better be alone on the earth than that you carry an unbeliever as a friend. You will not succeed in the Christian life because the devil will use him against you. The devil will use him and he will overcome you because he knows how to get your heart. Therefore, discipline yourself.
If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away. If any man’s house has become one for Christ, it is a new house. Clean up all those sinful hangings. You may say, “Oh but I look pretty there.” Do you still admire lth? Were they not those things which made God angry to condemn you and you were already on your way to be consumed by the re of hell? The Lord showed you mercy and will you still keep those things there? Gather those things, those properties, those wrong cloths and pictures and banish them out of your house. This is real Christian discipline to ensure you really get to heaven. If you do not want to fall, nothing should draw your mind back to yesterday. You are moving forward. You have not yet attained but you want to attain the heavenly calling in Christ Jesus. You should be serious about it. Also check up your skirts. Woman, you say you are born again but your skirts have not gone down well and are still flying. Your cloths do not bear the mark of your new life. They are not the cloths of a born-again person. So check up and make sure you conform fully.
