THE DOCTRINE AND PRACTICE OF RESTITUTION
TEXT: Genesis 20: 2, 3, 14. Job 42: 7-9
Key verse: That which hath been is now, and that which is to be hath already been;
and God requireth that which is past.” Ecclesiastes 3:15

Now that you are in Christ, the Lord expects you to serve Him with a conscience void of offence toward God and men. Hence, you will need to take some corrective actions over your past life. This might involve settling your differences with those you offended, paying back just debts, returning stolen property, apologizing for lies told, relinquishing false claims, confessing fraudulent acts, dissolving unscriptural marriage union and giving up false certificates. This is called restitution. Abimelech restored Sarah to Abraham.

Abraham had told everyone that his wife Sarah was his sister. So King Abimelech of Gerar sent men to take Sarah. God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him, "You're going to die because of the woman that you've taken! She's a married woman!" Then Abimelech took sheep, cattle, and male and female slaves and gave them to Abraham and returned Sarah to him.

Job's friends apologized to him for their wrong speaking. Zaccheus restored properties he acquired by false accusation. Paul was sorry for reviling God's high priest. The Holy Spirit will reveal things that require your corrective actions. God will be with you as you carry out your restitutions and His grace will be sufficient for you. Restitution is an act of righteousness that will fill you with joy and peace and will glorify the name of our Lord among men.

However, some restitution may require counselling from true and wise men of God, especially those involving others. Take sufficient counsel before carrying out your restitutions. Fear not, God will defend and speak for you. You will not be put to shame. Counselling will also show if it is mere satanic condemnation due to your ignorance. Do you have any restitution to make? Pray and ask God to direct and give you the boldness to do it. Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors, they are established.

Thought for the day: The earlier you comply, the better for your soul.

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...
For taking your time to study remain blessed. January Saturday 18th TOPIC: HOW TO ATTAIN BIBLE HOLINESS TEXT: Romans 6:20-23 KEY VERSE: Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. Besides the essential knowledge of the holy life of a Christian, it is good to understand the manner and process of becoming holy before God. Holiness of life is a life that has overcome sin through the saving power of Jesus Christ. Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. It is a life that does not commit sin. 1John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. Getting this experience requires four things: 1. Know that apart from holiness, there is no alternative lifestyle for heaven. Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holin...
