TOPIC: PRISCILLA’S MENTORSHIP ROLE ON APOLLOS        November Friday 29
TEXT: Acts 18:24-28
KEY VERSE: Acts 18: 26  “And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.“
Priscilla and Aquila came across Apollos who knew little or nothing about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Apollos only knew about the baptism of John. Apollos spoke well of Christ but knew little of the truth of the gospel. He was a zealous man but had a deep ignorance in him. Priscilla and Aquila found Apollos as a potential material for the gospel work. Priscilla and Aquila were able to use Apollos in gospel work because he was a humble man. He accepted the true gospel of Jesus Christ after his mentorship in the ministry of Paul. This made Apollos to become a great preacher of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The scriptures above revealed Apollos’ limited knowledge about Christ. He had little or no knowledge of knowing Christ as the Lord and Personal Saviour of Mankind. Moreover, he had little or no knowledge about the Holy Spirit. He spoke and quoted scriptures about Christ but had little knowledge about Him. This means Apollos didn’t know Christ as his Lord and Personal Saviour. Priscilla and Aquila made use of Apollos by mentoring him. They recognized that Apollos could preach but still have deep ignorance in him. From their view, they knew such an inadequacy could lead Apollos to lead others astray from the true gospel teachings of Christ. Similarly, you may know how to preach to attract others, but you still need true mentorship in order to be effective in gospel work.
Priscilla knew the discipline of Paul’s ministry and had known the truth. She followed the pattern of Paul to the letter and knew the sufferings attached to the gospel. Priscilla became a true witness in Paul’s ministry to the extent that she was very committed. Many of the people at that time were new converts in Christ. They never learned or knew the truth of the gospel. But Priscilla was a true disciple of Paul in a world of ignorance. Paul was a practical example of a true minister of God. Priscilla emulated Paul’s example in reaching out to the perishing. She came at a time when other disciples have forsaken Paul. She was one of the students of Paul and learned a lot of profitable truths from him.
Thought for the day: You need true mentorship in order to be effective in gospel work.
Song for the day: See me through, Lord Jesus see me through.....

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
