TOPIC: THE CHRISTIAN GIVING TO THE POOR
TEXT: PSALM 41:1-13
KEY VERSE: PROVERBS 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
God is compassionate and caring. In His commandment to Israel, He made sufficient provision for the poor and needy among them. He exhorted the Israelites to be compassionate to the poor and to open their hand wide to them (Deuteronomy 15:7-11). Under the ministry of Jesus, the disciples witnessed compassionate care for the poor by the Lord Jesus Christ as revealed in several scriptures.
Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Matthew 26:8-9 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
The following reasons account for the presence of the poor among us: Body infirmity, natural disaster, accidents of life, sicknesses and diseases, unemployment, thefts, widowhood, sin, laziness etc. Helping the poor was part of the apostolic focus and exhortation to believers in the early church. Believers have responsibility towards the poor and needy. We must remember that they are creatures of God with eternal souls. Their condition may affect their response to the gospel and continuity in it. The devil takes advantage of their state to tell them God does not exist, God hates them, and God cannot help them. The poor among us need love, care and friendliness. They need supply of needs, recognition, honour, intercessory prayers and visitation. They need to be evangelized, to be exhorted to faith, righteousness and holiness. They need comfort and encouragement. Through our practical love and care many of them will find the Lord and shall inherit eternal life. Helping the poor is a rewarding service.
Thought for the day: Be like your Master. Do not close your eyes to the need of the poor.
Song for the day: The great provider (2x) He will surely provide for me, and provide for you.
Bible reading for the day:
Genesis 15-17; Matthew 5:27-48

THE LORD IS REMOVING UNCIRCUMCISED LEADERS

REMAIN BLESSED AS YOU TAKE YOUR TIME TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD. THURSDAY 30 DECEMBER THE LORD IS REMOVING UNCIRCUMCISED LEADERS TEXT: NUMBERS 14: 26-31  Key verse: Matthew 20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many  be called, but few chosen. Completion of the angelic message: The Lord continued. “Because of this mandate given to you, I am removing around you the uncircumcised leaders. I am going to fill their place with righteous and holy leaders from various nations and races.” Truly I had pondered if any minister has suffered like this. People I loved, cherished and lived peacefully with suddenly began to speak evil against me to my shock. Well, it happens in politics, but is limited to their countries, whereas mine is international! Yes, some ministers may have suffered these things, but that was before the advent of the Internet, so their sufferings were limited. Maybe through letters or newspapers for a limited time, but my own is in the world of the I...
