TOPIC: BEWARE OF THE PREVALENT DOCTRINE OF SEED SOWING
TEXT: Philippians 3:17-19
KEY VERSE: Acts 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
Many preachers induce their audience to “sow seed,” so that God may answer or bless them speedily. This strange doctrine suggests that whatever you want from God, just give Him something and God will answer you. To them, it is an unfailing principle of “Give and Take.” Some even go to the point of saying the more your offering, the faster or more surely the answer to your prayer. If we believe this, it would mean that God’s blessing is now for sale to the highest bidder. I have had a preacher say that if your tithe or offering is in dollars or pounds sterling, the blessing will flow in like manner. That automatically puts the giver of offering in local currency in great disadvantage. What an ingenious way for supposed ministers of God to exploit the people!
Preachers of seed-sowing do not bother about the sins of the people. To them, what is more important is their gift of money and material resources to God. Some of these preachers do demand money and material gifts from those that come to them for prayer. Some others go into negotiation of how much money to give for deliverance to be carried out. These are ministers whose god is their belly. God is misrepresented by such preachers. His free offer of salvation and blessings through Christ are made “for sale” to the highest bidder. They fail to heed Jesus’ commandment in Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Jesus declared that He came to preach the gospel to the poor, but these preachers deprive the poor of Christ’s gospel because they have no money to buy it. The God they present to them can only be pleased with money. Unfortunately, the poor do not have money and so cannot benefit from Him. Certainly, they are not of God, but of the devil. Many of them use demonic power to heal the sick and to perform the commercial miracles they are doing. They specialize in the use of miracle handkerchiefs, anointing oil, holy water and other physical substances that defile the users. Brother, sister, run away from them.
Thought for the day: The gift of God is not for sale.
Song for the day: What can I say unto the Lord? All I have to say is thank you God.
Bible reading for the day: Genesis 18-19; Matthew 6
