What Success Is Not

Tuesday 13th January

Text: 1 Samuel 15: 10-23
Key Verse: Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death. Proverbs 10: 2
The quest for success in life is universal. However, success in the eyes of man may be a failure in the eyes of God. What supposed to be a success or victory testimony for king Saul became an issue of rejection and regret because he violated the commandment of God to annihilate the Amalekites. Saul’s victory celebration would have known no bounds if he had done it as commanded. He pushed God, the Author and Finisher of success, away in his zeal to do exploits for the same God.
The story in our text is a vivid depiction of the kind of success that is rampant and celebrated in the world today. In our world of corruption and decadence, the end justifies the means. The people of the world are out to get whatever they want irrespective of how they get it. Political appointments are seen as divine opportunities to strike while the iron is hot. A highly placed individual who climbs down from his position and did not loot government treasury enough to establish himself is considered a fool. His family members will fault him and insult him; his community will jettison him, and his society will nickname him, ‘Opportunity-miss-road’. You either ‘make it’ by all means or suffer rejection by your community. Civil servants, public servants and businessmen and women who have worked in financially buoyant organizations but did not craftily enrich themselves are seen as failures.
God views success differently from the way the world sees it. Success is not just about your achievements in life, it is not about how much money, the fleet of cars, housing estates and even aero planes you have. Your genuine success has its foundation in your seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness. What the world goes after for success is what God calls additives to godliness. Go for the fear of God first and He will bless you with your desired success testimony.

Thought For The Day: Achievements without Godliness is failure.

Song For The Day: Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and Its righteousness…

For taking your time to study remain blessed. UNDERSTANDING ETERNITY WEDNESDAY MAY 10 TEXT: Psalm 90: 1 - 2 Key Verse: “The Lord is King forever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land Psalm 10:16 People that understand eternity are always careful. Eternity means forever and ever, it means ever-lasting, ever-living, never dying. Trillion upon trillion years, eternity is still on, in fact it is life without end. There are two extreme ends of eternity: The kingdom of God called third heaven where God the Father, God the son, God the Holy Ghost, twenty-four elders, saints of God that make heaven, holy angels of God, and entire host of heaven dwell now presently; Hell-fire, where Satan, demons, and sinners that have died in their sins are presently kept. God is the One that introduced eternity. He lives forever. It is not a choice, the One who created us is forever, hence you will live forever, but what matters is where you will live eternally. Remove God from the way, then t...

Every Word Of God For Daily Living For taking your time to study remain blessed July Tuesday 9th TOPIC: WE ARE IN THE TWILIGHT HOUR OF RAPTURE TEXT: Ephesians 5:26-27 KEY VERSE: Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Seeing the traces of the features of the next dispensation in this present dispensation, you should know that you are in the twilight hour. What is a twilight hour? A twilight hour is that hour of the day that you begin to see the traces of the night while it is still daylight (probably 7:00pm to 7:30pm). It is not completely dark, yet it is not complete bright either. While it is still day, you are seeing the traces of the night. A twilight hour is the hour when you are still in this dispensation but you are already seeing traces of the next. The twilight hour is the time that our Lord Jesus Christ was born and even though He came with the New Test...
