Abstain From All Appearance Of Evil In Ministry

Thursday 8th January 

Text: 1 Samuel: 12: 3-5, Deuteronomy 18: 9-14. 
Key verse: 1 Thessalonians 5: 22: “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 
It is expected, as a leader among the people of God, that your ways should be perfect; that your ways be pure in all issues of finances, and manner of relationships; that your acts should be just before God. Samuel said, "l have walked with you from my childhood until this old age. Witness against me before the Lord and before His anointed." As you have started the ministry in righteousness, so it should remain, but you became corrupt and fraudulent as a pastor and embezzled the money of the church. You borrowed money from your members and refused to pay back. 
You frustrated the cases of marriage of some people and committed adultery with women in your church. In your own ministerial life, you have done terribly. It could be in the church where you were before and now you are in another church. What should you do? If it is to meet with people offended one by one, you will do that to have a good conscience. This is the teaching of grace, and the grace of God is sufficient. Do not practice witchcraft. Do not go to herbalists to collect charms for protection. When you do that, it makes you defiled before God. But you may say, "But I do not go out of my body in witchcraft." But you have the property of Satan in your house and in your possession. Do not do those things for they bring God's judgment.
Do not take things from Satan to protect yourself, it is spiritual defilement. The moment you do that, your faith turns from God and rests on Satan. Satan then becomes the one who delivers you, but can Satan deliver you from himself? It is all tricks and deceit. What are we saying? You have been bewitching your congregation because there are some things you buried at the door or at the altar of your church. They are defilement to you. Now that you say you have come to Jesus, go and dig out all those things. Dig them out and confess them. The ministry started by witchcraft, so abandon it and go and learn Christianity properly.
