The Gift Of Speaking In Tongues

Friday 29th August

Text: 1 Corinthians 12: 7 – 11
Key verse: 1 Corinthians 14:1 “Follow after charity and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.”
The scriptures show that a believer may speak in tongues when praying to God during worship service: Forbid not to speak with tongues; Let him speak to himself and to his God. The believer may speak in tongues in the worship assembly for his edification. But this should be done between him and his God and must be done in the way that those who may hear will glorify God. He must be conscious of the presence of others who must not be distracted by him. He should not pray in tongues throughout the prayer time. He should pray more in understandable language when among others in the worship service in order to edify those that hear him,
A believer that is conscious of edifying others by his prayers must learn to pray audibly to be heard by those around. Jesus prayed audibly. The apostles prayed audibly. Apostle Paul here is saying he prayed audibly when among others for their edification. Except that many of these Bible prayers were audible, they could not have been written down clearly by the writers. However, there is time for everything, including silent prayers. Apostle Paul listed nine gifts of the Holy Spirit; two of these are the gift of speaking in tongues and the gift of interpretation of tongues. These nine gifts are ministration gifts. The Spirit-filled believer who possesses any of these gifts ministers them to others for their blessing in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Hence the gift of speaking in tongues is different from the general speaking in tongues by all who are baptized with the Holy Spirit. The gift of speaking in tongues is a supernatural manifestation by which a believer, who is already baptized with the Holy Spirit is instantaneously imparted with a divine message for an audience or assembly of worshippers. The message delivered in tongues is a prophetic message to the audience or assembly, but is veiled or sealed because it is delivered in a language both the speaker and the audience do not understand. For the prophetic message delivered in unknown tongues to be understood, the service of one with the gift of interpretation of tongues will be required.

Thought for the day: The gift of speaking in tongues is a supernatural manifestation

Song for the day: He is a miracle working God

For taking your time to study remain blessed. UNDERSTANDING ETERNITY WEDNESDAY MAY 10 TEXT: Psalm 90: 1 - 2 Key Verse: “The Lord is King forever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land Psalm 10:16 People that understand eternity are always careful. Eternity means forever and ever, it means ever-lasting, ever-living, never dying. Trillion upon trillion years, eternity is still on, in fact it is life without end. There are two extreme ends of eternity: The kingdom of God called third heaven where God the Father, God the son, God the Holy Ghost, twenty-four elders, saints of God that make heaven, holy angels of God, and entire host of heaven dwell now presently; Hell-fire, where Satan, demons, and sinners that have died in their sins are presently kept. God is the One that introduced eternity. He lives forever. It is not a choice, the One who created us is forever, hence you will live forever, but what matters is where you will live eternally. Remove God from the way, then t...
Every Word Of God For Daily Living For taking your time to study remain blessed July Tuesday 9th TOPIC: WE ARE IN THE TWILIGHT HOUR OF RAPTURE TEXT: Ephesians 5:26-27 KEY VERSE: Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Seeing the traces of the features of the next dispensation in this present dispensation, you should know that you are in the twilight hour. What is a twilight hour? A twilight hour is that hour of the day that you begin to see the traces of the night while it is still daylight (probably 7:00pm to 7:30pm). It is not completely dark, yet it is not complete bright either. While it is still day, you are seeing the traces of the night. A twilight hour is the hour when you are still in this dispensation but you are already seeing traces of the next. The twilight hour is the time that our Lord Jesus Christ was born and even though He came with the New Test...
