FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD REMAIN BLESSED.

DATE: FRIDAY 3 SEPTEMBER

TOPIC: DO NOT TAKE YOUR SALVATION FOR GRANTED

TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 1:18-20

Key verse:  Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

No runner celebrates victory before the race ends. Salvation is a process and is likened to a race or a journey. As a race, you cannot celebrate the victory of salvation until you are called to glory.

As a journey, just as a safe departure does not guarantee safe arrival, being saved in the morning is not a guarantee of salvation in the afternoon. Every believer is prone to spiritual accidents. This calls for caution. Your spiritual condition at death is what matters most.

Matthew 24:13…But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof. It is better to start as a sinner and end up as a saint than to start as a saint and end up a sinner. Whatever your level of spiritual growth or the degree of your spiritual exploits, do not glory yet.

Satan is a dogged fighter and a stubborn adversary. He never relents and he is no respecter of persons. Many great men of God have fallen into his trap in the last few days of their lives. That is why Paul admonished the Corinthian Christians:

1 Corinthians 10:11-12. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world have come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he falls.

In our reading text, Apostle Paul mentioned Hymenaeus and Alexander as disciples who had fallen away and shipwrecked their faith. Judas was a close disciple of Jesus Christ and a miracle worker but he too fell into the hands of Satan.

Many Christians have shipwrecked their faith without knowing it. They do not know because they are still exercising the gift of the Holy Spirit. They fail to realize that anointing is not holiness. While the gift of God is irrevocable, the salvation of a saint is revocable on account of sin.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, he will I blot out of my book.” Exodus 32:33.

You must hold fast what you have and not grow weary in your journey of salvation. Remain fervent in prayer and abstain from all appearances of evil. In this way, you will preserve your soul till eternity.

Thought for the day: Remain steadfast in faith and guard your life against the wiles of the devil.

Song for the day: O Jesus I have promised to serve You to the end

Bible reading for the day: Proverbs 3-4;

1 Corinthians 13.

KEY VERSE: It came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said, Lord, teach us how to pray as John taught his disciples. Luke 11: 1. When Jesus Christ came to us in the flesh, He went into the business of prayer because He was promoting the attribute of God as a prayer-answering God. He would not render that attribute idle or redundant. Nobody knew how John did it, but Jesus reveals here that the success you saw in the ministry of John the Baptist, the victory you saw in his ministry, is because he was a prayer man. John so much valued prayer. He saw the essentials of pr...
