HOLINESS REVIVAL MOVEMENT WORLDWIDE HOREMOW
DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY PASTOR PAUL RIKA INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR.
DATE: THURSDAY AUGUST 20, 2026.
TOPIC: WATCH YOUR ATTITUDE AND MANNERISM
TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:13-17
13. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
KEY VERSE: EPHESIANS 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.
Work on your face to make it friendly; otherwise, people will not want to come near you. You look angry as though somebody offended you. This makes people to avoid you. By the look on your face, if somebody sees you, he will ask what he has done against you that you frown at him. So work on that face. You must cultivate the habit of smiling. Why must people run away from you? Why must people avoid you? You must discipline yourself in that area; in your countenance.
Your dressing as a minister of the gospel is so casual that when you stand to speak, nobody bothers to hear. You are too ordinary and too casual for that position. You must discipline yourself. You might think that you want to be simple but you have to discipline yourself to dress well because you need to command respect for God. Dress well and discipline yourself to make sure you appear well and decent in public.
Discipline yourself in all areas; how you eat, the time you sleep, in all things. Learn personal discipline so that you can run this Christian race well. In your prayer life, discipline yourself. Some of you pray so silently that Satan is not aware that prayer is going on in that place. You are too silent and as a result, your mind does not concentrate, sleep takes you away. Why not speak out.
You may say, “I do not want to speak out,” then your prayer life will die. Discipline yourself, speak out, shout it, work contrary to your body and overcome your body weakness in prayer. Coordinators, pastors, ministers watch yourself. When you were feeling sleepy, why did you not stand up to resist it?
Be determined to overcome sleep. Do not say that you do not want to stand up for shame. Discipline yourself and stand up to save yourself from embarrassment. If you are seen sleeping in the pulpit, people will not believe your message. Discipline yourself; it is required to make you well, give you a standing, and give you honour as a Christian acceptable before God and man.
Thought for the day: Learn personal discipline to run this Christian race well.
Song for the day: Open my eyes O Lord, Alleluia….
