Teach All Things That Christ Has Commanded
Saturday 20th December
Text: Matthew 28: 19-20
Key verse: Matthew 28: 20 “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen”
After preaching and making disciples, build them up, fellowship with them and teach them all things that Christ has commanded. Jesus spent three and the half years on earth in ministry. Can you finish His words in one year? With adequate explanations and applications, will you finish it in three years? No. Discipleship continues till He comes because you will repeat it over and over to this forgetful world; a world where people easily forget so these are things you should keep teaching them. All things whatsoever the Lord has commanded you. Do not to say, “The Lord did not tell me.” It is given already. Teach them against the use of earrings, weavon, women wearing trousers and dresses of men and vice versa. Teach against abortion and wrong marriages. Teach them repentance, restitution, righteousness and godliness.
Teach them all things. But then some say, “No. We leave everybody to his or her conviction. We only preach the gospel to bring them to Christ but to remove earrings, stop perming, stop painting, stop immorality, we give everyone their liberty; let the Holy Ghost convict them.” “The Lord commands us not to use earrings in our church but let the Lord tell other people not to use earrings by Himself.” Doom again! Damnation! Do not think or speak like that. The standard of holiness is universal for all men irrespective of race, tribe, gender or denomination.
The Lord said, ‘Go and teach them all things whatsoever I have commanded you’ and you say, ‘No. Let the Lord do it Himself. I do not want to trouble anybody. Let the Holy Ghost convict every woman whether to use earrings or not.” God said you should teach them with authority. Do not be a fearful or cowardly preacher that will not go to heaven because of disobeying and challenging the Lord. Those preachers shall be punished in hell because God gave a commandment and they refused to obey, rather telling God to do it Himself. That is unrighteousness.
Thought for the day: The great commission entails both preaching and teaching.
Song for the day: Send the Light, the blessed gospel light
