GUIDING PRINCIPLES ON CHRISTIAN DRESSING

For taking your time to study remain blessed. Monday 1st November  GUIDING PRINCIPLES ON CHRISTIAN DRESSING  TEXT:  MATTHEW 5:14-16 Key verse:  “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of  God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31). The Bible does not list the kind of dresses, fashions and designs a believer should adopt. However, it presents guiding principles for Christian dressing, which include the following: · The dress must cover the body to avoid being a stumbling block to others (1Timothy 2:9). · Avoid worldly fashions and designs aimed at corrupting the society (James 4:4). · A woman must not put on a man's dress; neither should a man put on a  woman dress (Deuteronomy 22:5). Trousers are strictly for men any form of trouser by whatever name it is called is forbidden for women.  · Christian virtues of meekness, gentleness, humility, temperance, goodness and modesty must be seen in the believer's comportment.  Avoid f...

DON'T DIE IN A FAR COUNTRY

For taking your time to study remain blessed. Saturday 30th October DON'T DIE IN A FAR COUNTRY    TEXT:  LUKE 15: 17-21 Key verse:  Jeremiah 3:12 “Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say,  Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to  fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger forever” A man left his country and went to a far country for business. There in that country, he became sick and died. His relations instructed that he could be buried there. What a pain to his relations and friends! They would see him no more forever. His name soon vanished from their memory. There was nothing to show for him. Anyone can die far away from home and be buried like this. There is great danger if you die being far away from God (1) Angels will not carry you to heaven, because you do not qualify. (2) God will send your soul to hell. (3) Your righteous relations, parents, friends and acq...

DO NOT TURN BACK LIKE ORPAH

For taking your time to study remain blessed. Friday 29th October  DO NOT TURN BACK LIKE ORPAH  TEXT: Ruth 1: 7-15 Key verse: Ruth 1:15 And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her  people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law. The decision to return to Bethlehem with Naomi was a critical one for her daughters-in-law, Orpah and Ruth. At first, they both resisted Naomi's counsel to go back to Moab and its idols. Naomi then explained further, 'You know I am now an old woman, I cannot say you should wait until I give birth, Ok now let's assume that I have a husband today and I become pregnant this night, do you know it will take the child quite some years to come to at hood to marry you? Are you going to wait until the child comes to 18 years to 20 years to marry you? Are you not going to become too old? I am sorry that God allowed my husband and yours to die. God has treated me badly in this respect. Just go back home.'  Orpah appeare...

BELIEVER'S VICTORY IN CHRIST

For taking your time to study remain blessed. Thursday 28th October BELIEVER'S VICTORY IN CHRIST   TEXT: Luke 10:17-20 Key verse: Luke 10:18 And He said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from  heaven. Every believer can enjoy constant victory over the powers of darkness and even minister to others also. Believers' hope is based on the power of the indwelling Christ, power in the blood of Christ, power in the Name of Christ, power of the written word of God, power of the abiding presence of Christ, faith in the promises of God, power of prevailing prayer, putting on the whole armour of God, and depending on the power of the Holy Spirit.        Luke 10:17-20 17 And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. 18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and overall the power of the enemy: and noth...

BE A THANKFUL BENEFICIARY

For taking your time to study remain blessed. Wednesday 27th October BE A THANKFUL BENEFICIARY  TEXT: LUKE 17:11-19 Key verse: “O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good: because His mercy endureth  forever.” (Psalm 118:1). It is common among men to show ingratitude and un-thankfulness because of their impure hearts and sinful lives but it should not be so with believers. True Christians with the mind of Christ are to be thankful to God for everything and to their fellow men for the kindness they receive in word and deed. We shall consider three cases in scripture where men manifested ingratitude:  Case 1. The Amorites ill-treated David's messengers of love. David had sent men to comfort the new king of Amorites over the death of his father, who had been good to David. This was a great act of love. But the king of the Amorites treated them very badly. What was responsible for this ingratitude? (i) The darkness of heathenism (ii) Absence of true love among them (iii) Imp...

QUALITIES OF REWARDING SERVICE:

For taking your time to study remain blessed. Tuesday 26th October QUALITIES OF REWARDING SERVICE:  TEXT: 1 PETER 5: 1-6 Key verse: Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for him that  cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently  seek him.” (I).  Faith: Faith says God calls you and will reward you. Do not allow any situation to distract you.  (ii).  Faithfulness: Do it according to pattern and according to Divine specification.  (iii).  Humility: Be humble so you can perform service unto God. If you see yourself as highly placed, you may be directing works to  younger ministers under you to do while some of these works may actually be for you. Where other people are assigned responsibilities and you are left out, God must have chosen somebody at that time to do it, so be humble and listen.  (iv).  Holiness: Cloth yourself with the garment of holiness – as a minist...

PROPHECIES FROM THE AZUSA STREET REVIVAL

For taking your time to study remain blessed. Monday 25th October  PROPHECIES FROM THE AZUSA STREET REVIVAL TEXT: ACTS 15: 14-18 Key verse: Acts 15: 18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the  world. Among those attracted to the revival were not only members of the Holiness Movement, but also Baptists, Presbyterians and others, with reports of the blind having their sight restored, diseases cured instantly, and immigrants speaking in German, Yiddish, and Spanish all being spoken to in their native language by uneducated black members, who translated the languages into English by "supernatural ability". There were spontaneous preaching and altar calls for salvation, sanctification and baptism of the Holy Spirit. The members of the mission never took an offering, but there was a receptacle near the door for anyone who wanted to support the revival. The core membership of the Azusa Street Mission was never more than 50–60 individuals, with hundreds if not tho...
