Singing Unto The Lord in Worship Services

Wednesday 23rd July

Text: Ephesians 5:19, 20
Key verse: Psalms 119:7 I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments
Singing was one of the activities in the worship service of the early church. The apostle's instructions in the above passages may be put as follows: The believers should use psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to teach and admonish one another; the words of the songs sung should be understandable to the audience for their edification, exhortation and comfort; the songs sung should proceed from a heart that has experienced the grace of God in salvation and cleansing from sin; the melody of the song should be such as will make the heart joyful and edified.
Singing is an act of worship rendered to the Lord. Singing is a spiritual service to be rendered by those who are born of the spirit. The songs sung in God's worship are spiritual songs. Singing draws our hearts and emotions to God and makes us love, appreciate and worship Him. Songs strengthen our faith and inspire us to pray and serve the Lord heartily. The songs must be spiritual songs. The melody must appeal to the heart and not to the flesh. The ministry of songs has led many sinners to Christ and provoked many to consecrate their lives to holy living and Christian service.
We must sing with righteousness, love, joy, faith, liveliness, and skill to inspire others to this holy duty. The choir members of the local church and those who desire to minister in songs must dress modestly and in holiness. The church must strictly forbid those in ungodly attire from ministering in songs. Many congregations give more time to singing in their worship service than to prayer and the preaching of the word of God because it is an emotional activity and many desire to engage in it, especially, when accompanied with musical instruments. We must ensure that those who are given the privilege to minister in songs are true children of God who present their songs, not for self-glory, but for the glory of God and edification of the brethren.
Thought for the day: Preaching and teaching do more to nourish and establish the believers than singing
Song for the day: I will sing unto the Lord, a joyful song
Bible reading for the day: Isaiah 32-34

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...
For taking your time to study remain blessed. FACTS TO BE UNDERSTOOD ON REVELATION MESSAGES WEDNESDAY JANUARY 11 TEXT: NUMBERS 12: 4-8. Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
