Death and Life in the Power of the Tongue

Death and Life in the Power of the Tongue

Sunday 20th July

Text: Luke 9:52-56
Key verse: Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
The Bible reveals that there is power in the tongue of every man. This is because man is made in the image of God. The tongue, mouth or word of God contains unthinkable power. The power in the tongue of man is of two kinds, the power of good and evil, blessing and cursing, life and death. The Bible shows that these two kinds of power are in the tongue of man. Man can invoke either of these by the use of his tongue and reap the reward of good or evil, blessing or cursing, life or death. Jesus reiterated this truth in the New Testament when He said that the word spoken by man can bring justification (blessing and life) or condemnation (curse and death) God knows the power of the tongue or spoken word and so encourages men to speak good words to themselves and others, words of life and blessing. He commanded men not to speak evil against one another, not to curse one another.
Matthew 5: 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. Romans 12: 14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Titus 3:22 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. Bible accounts and the contemporary world reveal the disastrous effects of the curse men have placed on one another: on families, lands, cities etc. Men have sent their fellow men to eternal damnation and deprived them of the privilege of living longer to become possibly born again through repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ. The reasons for the curses placed on one another are not worthy to be compared with the resultant effects of these curses. When James and John wanted to curse the Samaritans of a particular city for not allowing Jesus to pass through the place to Jerusalem, Jesus rebuked them and warned them against such evil.

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...
For taking your time to study remain blessed. FACTS TO BE UNDERSTOOD ON REVELATION MESSAGES WEDNESDAY JANUARY 11 TEXT: NUMBERS 12: 4-8. Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
