TOPIC: THE MEANING OF GOLD/JEWELLERY AND THE PURPOSE FOR THEIR PROHIBITION

TEXT: 1TIMOTHY.2:8-10

Key verse: 1Peter 3:3 “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, or of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel.

The word ‘gold’ in the above passage and 1 Peter 3:3 means jewellery.

Numbers 31:50-51

50 “We have therefore brought an oblation for the LORD, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the LORD.

51 And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.”

What is jewellery? The Bible uses the word gold or jewellery to denote items of ornamentation or adornment used by both men and women, especially women.

They are items of decoration and charming beauty. These include earrings, nose rings, necklaces, chains, bracelets, rings. The jewels and other materials used in the manufacturing of jewellery constitute precious stones, metals, etc.

Earrings are being made of various sizes, shapes, and materials. They are made from gold, silver, brass, ivory, stones and wood. They are sometimes plain and sometimes adorned with precious stones.

Some are small and stick closely to the ear, leaving no intermediate space, while others are large and heavy and drop some distance below the ear. Some of these by their weight leave a large hole in the part of the ear where they are hung. They pull down the ear, making the hole visible.

The word jewellery is an all-inclusive word covering these items of adornment or bodily beauty used by women and men. Those who use jewellery in their dressing give various reasons for their use.

To some, the use of earrings and nose rings by women differentiate them from men and serve as a feminine identification mark. Some claim that the use of rings on various fingers and maybe toes too have significance.

They say that the public may need to be informed that they are not yet married or have married or are engaged or are in widowhood, etc.

This information is conveyed to those they interact with using rings on fingers and toes. Some claim that the use of golden jewellery by God's children show that they are not children of poverty but the rich and wealthy.

By this conviction, they hang golden chains, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, to appear flamboyant and ostentatious in their adornment.

Some use these things innocently and ignorantly; not for any reason, but because they see them on other men and women and consider them as articles of human adornment. Don't fall a victim

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...
For taking your time to study remain blessed. FACTS TO BE UNDERSTOOD ON REVELATION MESSAGES WEDNESDAY JANUARY 11 TEXT: NUMBERS 12: 4-8. Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
