Discipline Yourself in Self-Reporting And Self-Exposure
Sunday 30th November
Text: Judges 17: 1-2
Key verse: Luke 15: 18 “I will arise and go to my father and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee.”
You are a minister but you have committed fornication, or adultery. Come down, go and report yourself. Nobody knows but God knows. The devil overcame you but God has known and will want to welcome you back. Discipline yourself by going to report yourself. If it requires withdrawing yourself from service, do it. Withdraw from service for a time until you recover. Your life does not consist in the service you render. The main issue of your life is heaven, so seek heaven and not service.
Heaven expects that you report your sins. You and your wife fought. You may say “She was the one that slapped me first.” Then what did you do? “I handled her.” How did you handle her? You may have done this before you realized yourself. Run to your leader, make a call to your superiors and confess that you have fallen into sin; you have backslidden, the devil has overtaken you. Ask for prayers and pardon. That is what God is looking for. A sincere heart. God`s grace is still there. Follow the right way to get it, if you are looking for mercy.
Do what is true if you are looking for mercy. Make truthful confession. Reveal your secret sins; even the ones nobody knows. Confess them and report yourself. Why do you protect your position, and tell yourself that, “If I confess, I will be removed from my position?” Child of hell, sooner or later you will still come out of that position! Come out now in dignity and the Lord shall give you double. Protect yourself and shame shall come on you! That shall be an everlasting shame.
It takes personal discipline to confess these things. It requires personal Christian discipline to serve God in holiness and righteousness without hypocrisy. You need it. Discipline and prayers work together. Go and plan how your prayer life will be now. You left it for too long. Now you cannot pray for 30 minutes again, not to talk of three hours. Go and sit down and plan your prayer life. The prodigal son sat down and planned, he thought through and recovered.
Thought for the day: Go and plan how your prayer life will be now.
Song for the day: You cannot hide it from God
Bible reading for the day: 1 Corinthians 5-9
